Songs in the Key of Death

Songs in the Key of Death is my first poetry collection. I never considered myself a 'poet' per say; poems were something that now and then, maybe a couple of times a year, one would kind of pop into my head and I'd jot it down. Sure, I sold 2 or 3 of them, but I never purposely tried to write poetry.

Then, about a year ago, I realized that I'd accumulated enough pieces to almost create a collection. So I forced myself to work on creating a few more and then shopped it around. Because my poems tend to be short and resemble songs more than traditional poetry, I decided on the title Songs in the Key of Death - which also had that same vibe as the title of my last short story collection, Houses of the Unholy, riffing on old classic albums.

Going into something unknown is always a little frightening, and I didn't know what to expect in terms of reviews, but I ended up getting some great ones, including this one from multi-award-winning author Lisa Morton:

"I love the way JG Faherty's extraordinary poetry collection plays with language, form, and emotion. These pieces are by turns frightening, melancholy, disturbing, smart, and darkly witty. Songs in the Key of Death is a hit!"
